We created this shoot at Kontiki studios in Dalston for Michelle's publicity shots.
Michelle is an amazing jazz singer who I got to know whilst working at the English National Opera where she sang with the ladies chorus.
The aim for the shoot was to create a quirky yet classy set of photographs to promote Michelle's jazz events.
Kontiki studios is the home of another friend Anita Brulee, who also did Michelle's make up for the shoot. Anita's immense collection of taxidermy, antiques and pin up posters makes her home one of the most interesting places I have ever visited, I would highly recommend it as a location for shoots.
The hair
We wanted to create a hairstyle that was versatile between eras. We started off in the 1930's with an up do which was then adapted to suit the 1950's.
